As everyone gathers around the TV for Sunday and Saturday football games, there is no better to enjoy the game than having a party or a tailgate! A football party must have decorations, delicious food, drinks, and great friends. Here are some great ideas to make your football filled day a touchdown!

If all of your friends and family that are coming to your tailgate/party are rooting for the same team, decorate your home with your team’s colors. If your guests are divided, have decorations for both teams. You can get paper plates, cups, and plastic silverware with your teams on them, which will also be easy for clean up. When you are setting up the room, make sure you have enough seating for all of your guests to enjoy the game. Have a couple designated tables for food and drinks. On those tables, get football field table cloths and DIY or buy football place cards for each dish. You can also get a decorative chalkboard and create a hashtag for your guest, for example, “Beat #NotreLame! Go DAWGS!!”

The key to a great football party is the food. If you want, you can have your party be a potluck and everyone brings a dish. You can’t go wrong with a great dip, whether it is buffalo chicken, spinach artichoke, or pimento cheese, all are crowd pleasers. Some other appetizers you could have are caprese salad skewers drizzled with some balsamic and barbeque pulled pork and peach summer rolls. For the main entrees you could have ham and cheese sliders, grill out and have barbeque chicken, steak, and veggies. If the game is in the morning, have a brunch with eggs, bacon, fruit, and bagels that will pair very nicely with a mimosa or bloody mary. Add a photobooth to the mix to make it extra special.

Another key to a great football party are the drinks as well. You can supply whiteclaws, beer and soda, but to add a touch to the party, create some cocktails that are football inspired. One cocktail that you could have for your guests is a mojito, but with blueberries , raspberries, and blackberries that will be super refreshing. You can’t go wrong with margaritas on the rocks and you can have different flavors that your guests can choose from, a frozen margarita machine might be difficult to obtain. Another classic cocktail is a magic hour, which has gin, lemonade, strawberries, cucumbers, oranges, aperol, and mint.
